The Story of Roy’s Classics
When Roy Luther sold his Tool and Die company at age 82, slowing down was not part of his retirement plan. He bought his first classic car, a 1955 Ford Skyliner, in March of 2021. While his wife Lois was uncertain at first, he soon had her all-in on the pursuit of this new venture! Lois loved to see Roy explore this new passion, and she herself was soon combing the paper for classic car ads and making u turns to inquire about every classic car she saw with a FOR SALE sign in the window. In just under 18 short months this duo had collected over 75 classic and rare vehicles!
Sadly, Roy passed away unexpectedly on September 5 of 2022 after a brief illness. Lois was beyond heartbroken, but undeterred, she pressed forward with their vision to remodel several buildings in Baraboo to house this collection. Such spirit and gusto she had for this project! As the buildings were being completed, Lois signed up to take part in the Baraboo Holiday Lights Parade with her family and friends. It was just 15 degrees out that November night, but Lois beamed with joy as she rode atop the 1926 Ahrens Fox Fire Truck clad in full Elf attire!
The remodeling and updates to the buildings were near completion when Lois passed away unexpectedly from a fall on February 23, 2023. Roy had died less than 6 months earlier. While Lois had worked hard to live life in his honor, being apart from the love of her life was the greatest grief and pain she had ever known. Her death was tragic and unexpected, but her family and friends took solace in knowing she was back at Roy’s side in heaven.
Throughout their almost 62 years of marriage, Roy and Lois were known for their warmth, kindness, and genuine ways. From building a successful company in Milwaukee, Triangle Tool, to growing a family farm business in their hometown of Baraboo, Roy and Lois always lived their priorities of faith and family. The greatest measure of their lives together is the countless friendships, kind deeds, family bonds, and sweet memories that live on today.
